Soul

What is a soul? The "soul" is not a separate entity within human beings; it is another way of saying a "living person." Man became a living soul when God combined the physical body with the breath of life. You do not have a soul, you are soul. It's in the Bible, Genesis 2:7, KJV. "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."

What happens when we die, where does the soul go? Death is like unplugging a lightbulb from its electrical source. The soul ceases to exist when we die. It's in the Bible, Ecclesiastes 12:7, NKJV. "Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it"

What is the spirit that returns to God? It is the breath of life . It's in the Bible, Job 27:3, KJV. "All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils"

Can the soul die? Yes, it is simply another term for a living person. It's in the Bible, Ezekiel 18:4, NKJV. “Behold, all souls are Mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine; the soul who sins shall die."

Souls cannot live on after death, only God has immortality. It's in the Bible, 1 Timothy 6:15-16, NKJV. " which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords,  who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen."

Do good people go to heaven right away when they die? No. It's in the Bible, Acts 2:29,34, KJV. "Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day...For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand"

The dead do not praise God. It's in the Bible, Psalms 115:17, NKJV. "The dead do not praise the Lord, nor any who go down into silence."

The souls of the wicked do not live on in hell eternally suffering; they are destroyed in hell. It's in the Bible,  Matthew 10:28, NKJV. "And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."

When we die, there is no conscious, thinking soul or spirit that lives on. It's in the Bible, Ecclesiastes 9:5-6, NKJV. "For the living know that they will die; but the dead know nothing, and they have no more reward, for the memory of them is forgotten."

All human emotions cease at death; the dead do not wander around with "unfinished business."  It's in the Bible, Ecclesiastes 9:6, 10, NKJV. "Also their love, their hatred, and their envy have now perished; Nevermore will they have a share in anything done under the sun... Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going."
